FIRST
is a great way to learn, lead and succeed at the School of Mines!
Just check that you want
to be FIRST on your housing application/exemption request form, and you'll
be on your way to participating in some great activities designed
exclusively for you - a FIRST year student who wants to learn, lead and succeed!
<Get
reminders of what you need to have completed when.
<Attend
summer orientation FIRST Connections - spend the night on-campus
with students who will be your fellow classmates. Get to know each
other and more about life at the School of Mines. 2008 FIRST

<Join
other FIRST participants on an Adventure Weekend - camping, hiking,
community service and more.
<Take
advantage of the opportunity to work with FIRST Assistants -
upperclassmen who meet with you individually, provide tutoring as needed, help you get study groups organized
and in general ensure you have what you need to succeed as a Hardrocker.
FIRST residential
is all that FIRST has to offer, plus the added advantage of living with
other first year students on Peterson 2nd floor. In its
third year, FIRST residential students have shown overall that they are
socially connected with each other, have an average GPA of more than 3.0 for
their first year and have in-hall academic support through tutors and
organized study groups. (FIRST residential is limited to 97
students, first apply, first in).
