Just check the FIRST box on your housing application.

Say yes, to the Participant Agreement

and, you're FIRST!!

FIRST is a great way to learn, lead and succeed at the School of Mines!  Just check that you want to be FIRST on your housing application/exemption request form, and you'll be on your way to participating in some great activities designed exclusively for you - a FIRST year student who wants to learn, lead and succeed!

<Get reminders of what you need to have completed when.

<Attend summer orientation FIRST Connections - spend the night on-campus with students who will be your fellow classmates.  Get to know each other and more about life at the School of Mines.  2008 FIRST Connections slide show

<Join other FIRST participants on an Adventure Weekend - camping, hiking, community service and more.

<Take advantage of the opportunity to work with FIRST Assistants - upperclassmen who meet with you individually, provide tutoring as needed, help you get study groups organized and in general ensure you have what you need to succeed as a Hardrocker.

FIRST residential is all that FIRST has to offer, plus the added advantage of living with other first year students on Peterson 2nd floor.  In its third year, FIRST residential students have shown overall that they are socially connected with each other, have an average GPA of more than 3.0 for their first year and have in-hall academic support through tutors and organized study groups. (FIRST residential is limited to 97 students, first apply, first in).
