Room
sign-up for 2010-2011 will begin February 1 . . .
and unlike
last year, we have plenty of rooms!! And, they are all virtually
brand new . . .
Room Sign-up
Process
From
February 1 – March 31, the
on-line application will offer some great features to all
current residents . . . when you log-in using your SDSM&T
network log-in, here’s what you’ll get:
-
Your
personal information will be pre-populated into the form
(saving you time and typing).
-
You’ll
be able to reserve a specific room—and know immediately if
it’s available.
-
You’ll
be able to request specific roommates—and the system will
email the roommate of your request (you’ll need to enter their
email address) while also holding a spot in that room for 15
days. Your requested roommate(s) will then have the option of
applying and entering a confirmation code to be your roommate;
or to select a different room altogether. The roommate
confirmation code is invalid after 15 days and the space is no
longer held.
Change
your mind about room or roommates? Until March 31, you are able
to log-in and update your application – as many times as you
want.
February
1
– any current residents may reserve the same
room/apartment they are in right now (with two exceptions –
residents of Peterson 2nd Floor and students residing
at NAU).
February
15
– all current graduate student residents and residents who have
lived on-campus for 4 or more semesters may reserve
any available room/apartment.
March 1
– all current residents may reserve any
available room that they are eligible for.
March 15
– all current students may reserve any available
room that they are eligible for.
Please
note we are differentiating between students who currently live
on-campus (residents) and students who do not live on-campus
(students); we are also differentiating between dorm rooms and
apartment spaces.
Reminders
As you
make your plans for next year, there are a few more things to
keep in mind.
-
Connolly Hall and Palmerton will both be back in full swing .
. . yeah!.
-
Peterson 2nd Floor will continue to be reserved for
FIRST residential. So, all rooms on Peterson 2nd
will be reserved for in-coming first year students.
-
In
order to better accommodate all students; all doubles, deluxe
doubles, and triples in Peterson will be designated as male
rooms.
-
If you
choose a room style, not a specific room, we cannot guarantee
you’ll get the kind of room you want. You’ll be assigned to a
room when new students are assigned. In other words, take the
time to reserve a specific room.
-
Per
recently approved SDSMT Housing Policy, apartment roommates
may be requested/assigned without any gender restrictions
(meaning men and women may reside in the same apartment as
long as both have requested such assignment).
Your
deposit will carry over from this year to next year. If you are
not planning to reside in on-campus housing next year,
you will need to request refund of your deposit via our on-line
system.
Other
Information
As you
make your decision on where to live next year, don’t forget the
South Dakota Board of Regents Housing Policy. If you are
required to live on-campus, but want to live off-campus, you’ll
need to complete the Housing Exemption Form (available from the
housing application; just choose exemption rather than
application). You are not okay to reside off-campus unless and
until your exemption request is approved.
Starting
April 1, you’ll still be able to apply for housing on-line; you
just won’t have the option to select a specific room.
The
Housing Agreement allows for students not required to
live on-campus to have the option of buying out their
agreement at any point of the academic year. Review the
agreement in advance
on-line.
